The journey of my life shaped – BAGGOLINO
Born by Lake Constance in southern Germany, with deep roots in Castellana Grotte, Puglia, I lived there 28 years before settling in Lugano, Ticino. Travel has always been my passion, but it came with real frustrations: wheels breaking on cobblestones, suitcases squeaking through quiet nights, getting stuck in narrow train aisles. My luggage kept letting me down.
One day I asked myself: What would a perfect suitcase feel like – one that actually makes trips easier?
As a toolmaker, I started dreaming, sketching, and solving problems step by step. It grew into more than just gear; it became my mission.
I wanted to improve bags, wallets, backpacks – make them tougher and more sustainable for life around northern Italy and Ticino. Being a kitesurfer, I also wanted to give back, so I started upcycling old kites into products that last and help the planet.
Baggolino is for you – anyone who loves to explore but cares about the world too.
It’s gear built with heart, to join your adventures and keep you moving.
How Baggolino Was Born
Some moments change everything. Mine happened on a quiet New York night.
Exhausted after a long flight, I just wanted to reach my hotel. Then that familiar noise: wheels rattling on bumpy pavement, breaking the city silence. Snap – one wheel gave out right there on the sidewalk.
Standing there with my heavy bag, I was done.
Why do we put up with luggage that fails us?
There are smart fixes for everything else – why not for what carries us everywhere?
That’s when Baggolino began.
A Passion for Kitesurfing - and the Desire to Waste Nothing
I’m a passionate kitesurfer. I know that rush: wind catching the kite just right, water roaring below, pure freedom in the moment. But kites don’t last forever—they get worn out, replaced, tossed aside.
I couldn’t stop thinking: Why throw away a kite that’s seen so much action?
That’s how the idea hit: turn it into new gear for your travels – handmade from upcycled kite fabric right here in Switzerland and Italy.
Why a Rabbit as the Logo?
It stands for speed, agility, smarts.
But there’s more to it. Every night, I’d tell my daughters Silja and Sarina stories about a brave rabbit exploring the world – finding new places, overcoming hurdles, always ready for what’s next.
That rabbit became Baggolino’s heart: quick, clever, and full of wanderlust. Travel is about discovery. And obstacles? They only slow you down if your gear does.
Baggolino: For those who live for the adventure.
